Global Researcher and Founder of the Strengths Revolution Marcus Buckingham to Keynote Future of Education Technology Conference

Newly Announced Keynote to Reveal Findings from New Study, Including Takeaways for Increasing Resilience of Educators While Navigating the COVID-19 Era.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – December 8, 2020 – The Future of Education Technology Conference® (FETC®), a gathering of the most dynamic and creative education professionals from around the world for an intensive, highly collaborative exploration of new technologies, best practices and pressing issues, announced best-selling author and global researcher Marcus Buckingham as a keynote speaker for the reimagined event. The no-cost, virtual conference, taking place January 26 – 29, 2021, will feature a new online format which will include two or more keynote presentations each day spotlighting the industry’s most compelling experts and thought leaders while covering a diverse range of topics.

Buckingham will open the online event with his keynote presentation, “Resilience: How to Build It in Yourself and in Those You Lead,” on Tuesday, January 26 at 11 a.m. ET. In this session he will reveal discoveries about the sources of resilience from two field studies of resilience. The first study focused on identifying the sources of resilience, pinpointing how to measure it and the best ways to build it. The second study posed ten key questions to more than 25,000 working adults from 25 countries and looked at how a country’s response to COVID-19 impacted resilience levels. Attendees will learn why some people are able to sustain their power and their energy while others wane, and also discover three key sources of resilience, ten questions to measure resilience and the most effective techniques to build resilience in themselves, their schools and students.

Building on nearly two decades of experience as a Senior Researcher at Gallup Organization, Buckingham currently guides the vision of ADP Research Institute as Head of People + Performance research. He founded The Marcus Buckingham Company in 2006 with a mission to instigate a “strengths revolution” by bringing the message of personal strengths to the world through education and technology. Beginning with First, Break All the Rules and continuing through his latest book Nine Lies about Work, Buckingham is known for challenging entrenched preconceptions about achievement to get to the core of what drives success. He is widely considered the world’s leading expert on Talent at work.

“This year has presented the biggest need ever for educators to be resilient. The education community has demonstrated their ability to recover quickly from difficulties. Research has shown that being resilient improves the performance of all staff and especially teachers and students. Marcus Buckingham will reveal how senior leaders can build resilience in their teams to endure this crisis based on his recent research conducted during COVID-19. We are excited to hear him share the relationships between resilience, optimism, performance and psychological well-being during this crucial time,” said Jen Womble, Program Chair for the Future of Education Technology Conference.

The fully interactive, free FETC virtual experience will use state-of-the-art technology to ensure attendees are able to explore and network with other participants, speakers, and solution providers. Attendees will be able to take part in live Q&As, network, schedule one-on-one meetings, join group chats, visit booths, and more.
