Salman Khan to Give Opening Keynote at 2019 Future of Education Technology Conference

The National Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC) announced today that educator and entrepreneur Salman Khan, founder of Khan Academy, will deliver the opening keynote address on Monday, January 28, 2019, at the 39th annual event in Orlando, Florida. In his keynote, “The One World School House—Education Reimagined, ” Khan will explain how Khan Academy is accelerating learning for millions of students around the world and share his vision for the future of education. Khan’s engaging message will inspire the education and technology leaders attending FETC 2019, which will take place January 27-30 at the Orange County Convention Center.

In his keynote, Khan will tell FETC attendees the inspiring story of how he founded the not-for-profit Khan Academy and how the organization is educating millions of people worldwide. With over 150,000 practice problems and 52 million registered students in 190 countries, Khan Academy is rethinking the world of education. Khan will also share his thoughts on what education reimagined could look like and how his dream of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere could become a reality.

Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos and articles on a range of academic subjects including math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, finance, grammar, preschool learning and more. Using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology, it empowers learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom, while equipping teachers with tools and data so they can help their students develop the skills, habits and mindsets for success in school and beyond. As of December 2016, the Khan Academy channel on YouTube has more than 3.6 million subscribers and its videos have been viewed more than 1 billion times.

In 2018, Khan won the San Francisco Chronicle Visionary of Year Award and, in 2012, Time named him to its annual list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Khan Academy received the Microsoft Tech Award for education in 2009 and in 2010 Google provided $2 million to support the creation of more courses and enable Khan Academy to translate its core library into the world’s most widely-spoken languages.
