Former MythBusters’ Host Kari Byron to Present Future of Education Technology Conference Mega Session

The presentation will discuss the importance of STEM and communicating scientific knowledge that can help solve some of the world’s most urgent problems.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – October 26, 2021 – The Future of Education Technology® Conference (FETC®), an intensive, highly collaborative exploration of new technologies, best practices and pressing issues, announced today that former MythBusters’ host Kari Byron along with EXPLR Media’s Jenny Buccos will present during the in-person event taking place January 25 – 28, 2022 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

During the Mega Session STEM SAVES THE WORLD! Coming to a Screen Near You!, EXPLR Media Co-Founders and Producers, Byron and Buccos, will discuss the importance of creative media in STEM to help answer the question “I’m Not a Scientist, Why Should I Care About STEM?” They will also demonstrate the critical importance of storytelling in communicating scientific knowledge that can help solve some of the world’s most urgent problems.

“I am so excited to speak at FETC,” said Byron. “Technology is the path to educational equity and the future. STEM will save the world.”

“If there is anything we have learned from the covid pandemic, it is that students learn best when we leverage technology to bring real world issues and experts to them digitally and communicate new material, make learning more fun, and make it easier for all students and those with disabilities or special needs to participate,” said Jennifer Womble, Program Chair for the Future of Education Technology Conference. “By tapping into students’ curiosity and passion, Kari Byron reveals global scientific issues and problems that encourage students to work harder to solve for the betterment of mankind. We are excited to have her presenting ways of teaching with multimedia that empower educators and inspire students.”

After hosting MythBusters, Byron has gone on to host and produce shows spanning several networks. Her latest show, Crash Test World, is airing globally on Discovery networks and being used in classrooms through EXPLR Media. Byron’s passion for smart entertainment has led her around the world, speaking on the role of STEAM programming on television. She is the author of Crash Test Girl, An Unlikely Experiment in Using the Scientific Method to Answer Life’s Biggest Questions and serves on the Board of the California Global Education Project.

Buccos has directed and produced over 500 short films for K-12 students and teachers. She was listed as a Top 40 Innovator in Education by The Center for Digital Education, has been a three-time recipient of the Parents’ Choice GOLD Award for Excellence in Educational Programming, and was recognized as a White House Champion of Change in 2012.
