In this episode, we are speaking with Dr. Robert Avossa. Dr. Avossa is Senior Vice President and Publisher of Education Products for LRP Media Group. Prior to his work at LRP Media Group, Robert served as Superintendent of some of the largest districts in Florida and Georgia – Fulton County (GA) and Palm Beach County schools (FL). In Palm Beach the district made rapid gains in student achievement under Dr. Avossa’s leadership. For the first time in many years, Palm Beach County has no “F” rated schools and earned an overall rating of A+. In Fulton County the African-American graduation rate increased from 58.2% to 67.7%, while the dropout rate decreased from 34.1% to 17.3%. Read more.

Dr. Robert Avossa is in his third year of leadership of the Palm Beach County School District. The District is the 11th largest district in the country with a student enrollment of more than 193,000 students. The annual budget exceeds $2.4 billion and the District is the largest employer in Palm Beach with over 23,000 employees. Since accepting the role of Superintendent, he has redirected $5.5 million of the District budget back to Title I schools to support teaching and learning.
